Academic Enrichment Program (Grades 1–9)

Spelling Test

Strengthening vocabulary and writing skills through focused spelling activities that build confidence and precision.

Program Overview

At Sunday Education School, our spelling program for Grades 4–8 is designed to go beyond memorization and build strong, lasting vocabulary skills. Each week, students are introduced to a carefully selected list of grade-appropriate words that reflect both academic language and real-world usage.

Students engage with these words through a variety of activities, including sentence writing, word analysis (prefixes, suffixes, and roots), and interactive discussions. This helps them understand not just how to spell a word, but how to use it correctly and confidently in context.

Our weekly spelling tests are structured to reinforce learning in a meaningful way. In addition to traditional dictation, students may be asked to:

To further build confidence and encourage a love for language, we host a monthly Spelling Bee for students across Grades 4–8. This fun and engaging event gives students the opportunity to challenge themselves, showcase their skills, and learn from one another in a supportive environment. It also promotes healthy competition, public speaking, and quick thinking.

We also incorporate review cycles and cumulative assessments to ensure long-term retention. By connecting spelling with reading comprehension and writing skills, students develop a richer vocabulary, improved communication, and greater confidence in their academic work.

Our goal is to help students become not only strong spellers, but effective and expressive communicators.
